The Lifestyle Center at the Mall in Columbia is an open-air expansion of the existing mall that connects to other pedestrian public spaces and adjacent mixed-use neighborhoods. The new Lifestyle Center provides new restaurant and retail spaces along a landscaped promenade. The project contributes to community connectivity and is accessible by multiple transit routes. Other sustainability strategies include water use reduction, stormwater management and the diversion of 96% of construction waste from landfills. One hundred percent of hardscape materials contribute to heat island reduction.
